TWO MEN who changed Watchtower History but YOU NEVER HEARD of them!
by TerryWalstrom intwo men who changed watchtower history but you never heard of them!
cults are famous for control--especially controlling information about people, places and events which are embarrassing to their self-myths.. especially is this true for two important figures in watchtower history.. .
the first man is william f. hudgings.

For those who are still in... What do you do about field service?
by Wait For It infor those of you who are still in because of family circumstances, what do you do about field service?
do you still go regularly, sporadically or not at all?.
if you do still go, how do you manage?

@Millie20, that's a good idea. I could just go on one of her bible studies. I'll try that if she asks again.
@hoser, I don't think that's the case. She doesn't know I have doubts, but I've always been a low hour publisher and she's always been trying to encourage me to increase my time. I think this mainly stems from wanting her son to have more responsibilities in the cong and that can't happen with a "spiritually weak" wife.
@stan livedead, the worst that can happen: they influence my spouse in some way which would cause more tension in my marriage. Or they could mention something to my elders which could lead to a JC down the line. I'm not too worried that would happen, but I like to think of all possible scenarios.
@MarkofCane, it is a very sad situation to be in. I feel sick just thinking about going to meetings. I haven't been out in service in months and I'd prefer to keep it like that.
The only reason I'm even entertaining the thought of going is because of my kids. Getting DF or DAing, wouldn't bother me a bit, but it would restrict me from being around my kids when they are at gatherings and such. We have a large cong and many from other cong are invited to those events. My husband is a good dad, but too trusting and buys into the whole insta-friends concept. So until something changes, I'll have to stick it out for a bit. -

So are the GB now saying that they are NOT the "faithful and discreet slave"?
by stuckinarut2 inso can someone clarify this please?.
the claim has been made that the gb is the faithful and discreet slave.
especially was this highlighted during the agm (when the silver bible was released).. but are they now saying that this "appointment" isn't happening until the "great tribulation"?.

Well, they eat it up because they either don't fully understand it or don't care. They are so focused on paradise that nothing else matters.

If you do still go, how do you manage? Or if you don't go, how do you explain your absence to still in family members?
A brief overview of my situation: I'm in good standing, spouse is fully in, I have two small kids who are carted along to JW meetings because of my spouse. I don't go out in door to door work, but do report some time due to being able to count "family worship." I eventually want to stop all activity for myself, but due to my kids, I've held off so I can be wherever they go and around whoever they're around. My spouse knows my doubts and isn't bothered by it. He comes from a long line of witness family members and his parents are pretty prominent in our circuit and friends with our CO. So I try to fly under the radar for now until something pushes me to change how I'm doing things.
However, my spouse's mother has been trying to invite me out in service now. While my spouse might not be bothered by me questioning the org and GB, that would not go over well if his parents learned this. I wouldn't put it past them to share that with my local elders. So I'm coming to the realization that I might have to go out with her every once in a while to keep up appearances. Boo.
Anyway, I'm just curious on how others deal with similar situations or have dealt with it in the past.

@Prologos, from listening to a talk from one of the GB members (I think it was Morris), they are going to help Jesus destroy "the wicked" and then rule over all the people who are left on earth. So I guess that's their understanding of the Master's "belongings."

They say there are two appointments:
In 1919, they were appointed over the domestics, once believed to be the annointed, later included "the great crowd." Now it means all JWs.
During the great tribulation, they receive the second appointment over all the master's belongings and are declared the faithful and discreet slave.
So yes, they technically can't be considered faithful and discreet without "completing" their perceived job of looking after the domestics and getting the pat on the back from Jesus at the end, but they use the title anyway because they've been declaring theirselves as such for so long.
Anyway, regardless, it doesn't change much. The message is still the same: we are in charge.

what sort of reactions have you gotten when talking to other jw when telling them the "truth about the truth"?
by AmIright inits funny ive read some stories on here about how they have become so infuriated by what logic dictates as being true and their own denying of it because it completely screws up their belief and shows how hypocritical it is xd some look like a nuclear reactor about to blow xd.
share you experiences here :) .

So far I've only told my husband and mother. My husband says I have points, but for whatever he doesn't know or can't explain, he rationalizes that he's "not high up enough to know" or relies on "my strong faith." My reply to him is "faith in whom?" which usually is the point where I end the convo and leave him with his thoughts. His mind isn't ready to accept a different way of believing.
Now my mom, on the other hand, has always been a thinking women and open minded. We also trust each other completely. When she was disfellowshipped, I didn't disown her, in fact, our relationship grew stronger. So when I learned TTAT, I shared everything with her. She has since woken up and has never criticized me for researching.

From yesterday WT, don't have kids and if you do then don't see them often nor the grandkids either
by purrpurr inunbelievable paragraph in yesterday's watchtower was "encouraging" the sheep to not have kids.
most of their growth comes from the born ins and they are still on about not having kids?.
then it went on to "encourage" those that do have kids or grandkids not to spend to much time with them and instead to spend their time serving kingdom interests!.

I saw this and was disgusted by that paragraph. Raising kids while working full time is hard. Having grad parents around to lessen the load and develop strong family ties is invaluable. I don't even think my mom and I truly connected until after I had kids and I seriously don't think I could have done everything without her love and support. Most witnesses are already financially struggling without the added stress of finding decent child care.
Here in the US, nuclear families is already a standard thing, but in other countries, it's not uncommon for households to house several generations. I have to wonder if this is may be more focused towards them.

In the paradise JWs will have a standard uniform
by RodrigoGuerreiro inanyone else notice this on the last video of the regional convention 2016?.
frame stills:.
conclusion: it seems that the paradise will not be only the end of wickedness but also the end of the jws typical cheap polyester suits :-p.

Didn't WT say that God dislikes gender neutral clothing because you can't tell if it's for men or women? And yet... they give us this.

I just don't understand this, what am I missing???
by Greybeard inas i am watching this video about changes at bethel, the speaker said, "aren't we glad the faithful and discrete slave continues to make adjustments when necessary.
what about this change?
"finally, we examined why jesus’ arrival to appoint the faithful slave over all his belongings did not occur in 1919 but will take place during the great tribulation" that is from this online watchtower article last paragraph: https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20130715/jesus-prophecy-last-days/ .

In 1919, a time of spiritual revival, Jesus selected capable anointed brothers from among them to be the faithful and discreet slave and appointed them over his domestics.
Oh, anointed brothers from amung them? This is so dishonest since at that time the faith and discreet slave was considered to be the ENTIRE group. There was no GB. There was Rutherford.
